June 17th | Supporting the Mental Well-being of Young Roma Children

Wednesday, June 17th, 2026

14:00-15:30 CET | Online | Free

How can we better support the mental well-being of young Roma children through everyday early childhood practice and relationships with families?

Part of the CHAVORE project, this international online event brings together practitioners, researchers, Roma experts, ISSA members, and project partners to reflect on emerging learning around supporting young Roma children’s mental well-being across different contexts in Europe.

Young Roma children are disproportionately exposed to poverty, discrimination, exclusion and unequal access to services, all of which can put significant pressure on their well-being from an early age. At the same time, however, practitioners and families play a critical role in helping children to feel safe, supported and connected.

Through reflections from CHAVORE pilot countries, the discussion will explore how awareness is shifting in practice, what changes practitioners are observing in their everyday work, and what challenges still remain when supporting children’s mental well-being in culturally responsive and relationship-based ways.

Live translation captions will be available.
