The first three years of life are a crucial time for a child’s development and well-being. During this period, everyday moments—talking, playing, reading, listening, and caring together—play an important role in how children grow. This course offers simple, evidence-based ideas to support parents in creating a nurturing home environment, with attention to shared caregiving and the role of fathers. It is designed to be accessible, reassuring, and easy to follow, supporting reflection on daily family routines rather than prescribing “right” or “wrong” ways of parenting.
NOTE: Both these courses include seven videos, spoken in Italian with sub-titles in English.

Together Old and Young: An Intergenerational Approach

Generations are increasingly disconnected, limiting opportunities for children to learn from older adults and for seniors to feel valued. This self-paced course, which includes many videos and reflective activities, shows you how to bridge that gap.

Module 1: Foundations

Introduces the foundations of intergenerational learning and practice, exploring what intergenerational learning is, why it matters today, and how meaningful contact between generations benefits children, older adults, and communities.

Module 2: Society & Community

Examines intergenerational learning from a wider lens of social and community contexts, exploring changing family forms, patterns of demographic change, increased longevity, migration, and cultural norms, and how these factors affect contact between generations.

Module 3: Planning & Facilitation

Bringing young children and older adults together requires thoughtful planning, preparation, and facilitation. This course supports you in designing and organising intergenerational learning activities that are meaningful, safe, and enjoyable for everyone involved.

Module 4: Quality, Sustainability, and Impact

For intergenerational initiatives to have a lasting impact, quality and sustainability are essential. This course focuses on how to recognise, promote, and sustain good-quality intergenerational learning that benefits children, older adults, and communities over time.
